August 23

JOURNAL TOPIC: [today's tunes: "Freedom of Choice" by Devo; "Freewill" by Rush]

We use phrases like "pay attention" and "make a decision" all the time-- what do each of these mean to you? How would you teach a child to do either, and how might you improve your own abilities in these areas?

1. Journal
2. 1987 AP Exam feedback from partner
3. An experiment in concentration

1. Read the articles linked to the Decision Fatigue post and answer questions by commenting to the post. If you have trouble publishing your comment please email it to Dr. Preston and bring a hard copy to class Wednesday, August 24.
2. Photograph your personal artifact and email/bring to class Wednesday, August 24.

  1. Where's the homework? Because the only chance I have to do any homework today is from now until 4:00pm. The only thing I know to do is to bring in a picture. Is there anything else?

  2. Savanah, I'm going to post it as soon as 6th period has the same chance to watch the experiment. Look for it around 2:45. You'll have to read fast!

  3. I am excited to see why my hand got frostbite.

  4. What's the email we send the picture to?

  5. Can the thing be a picture itself?

  6. Dr. Preston, would there be any chance that you might make an exception to bringing in a picture of the artifact because I do not have a phone or camera to take the picture. :(

  7. Cody: the email he has given us, well the one on the board is: dpreston.learning@gmail.com
