November 4

JOURNAL TOPIC: [today's tunes: "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers; "My Girl" by The Temptations; "Sunshine on my Shoulders" by John Denver]

As I dodged the raindrops this morning I overheard many conversations about how the change of weather affects our moods. How do authors use weather symbolically? In your literature analyses most of you have done excellent jobs of summarizing the plot and describing the tone and theme of each novel you've read-- now, as we delve deeper into the details of writing, reflect on the literary techniques (think diction, syntax, allusion, alliteration etc.). Even the composers/performers of today's tunes employ a wide variety of instruments, pacing, volume, and lyrics to achieve their effects.

AGENDA:

2. Vocab test

HW:
1. Read your current literature analysis book
